Daytime racing is back in Orange County with the Los Alamitos Fall Thoroughbred season. Racing will be contested on a Thursday through Sunday basis this week. First post time is 2 p.m. Live Quarter Horse racing will be held Saturday and Sunday this weekend immediately following the live Thoroughbred card. For info, please call 714-820-2800. Grandstand admission is $3, clubhouse is $5 and Vessels Club is $10. Los Alamitos features free general parking.
There will be no live Friday night racing on September 19 at Los Alamitos Race Course, but the Saturday and Sunday programs will feature full cards featuring an Early and Late Pick Four and a Pick Six wager. Los Alamitos will be dark on September 19. Friday night racing will return on September 26. Saturday's first night race will immediately follow the final daytime Thoroughbred race.
The Los Alamitos Fall Thoroughbred Meet will host a live money handicapping contest on Saturday, September 20 with the top two finishers earning berths to the 2015 National Handicapping Contest in Las Vegas! Champion Shared Belief, the winner of the $500,000 Los Alamitos Derby on July 5, added Sunday's Pacific Classic at Del Mar to his resume and is now a win away from claiming the $1 million Bolton Challenge bonus. Shared Belief will win the $1 million bonus if he is victorious in the Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita. Shared Belief became eligible for the inaugural Bolton Challenge when he won the Los Alamitos Derby. The Pacific Classic was the second leg of the series. Los Alamitos will simulcast the World Thoroughbred Breeders' Cup Championships on October 31 and November 1. Los Alamitos live races are now being broadcast in High Definition. The HD broadcast will be available on-track on high definition monitors and on TVG's The Quarters when shown on Prime Ticket. The improved pictured will also be sharper on The Quarters show on TVG. Los Alamitos Race Course is the first Quarter Horse racing signal in the nation to be available in crystal clear HD.
