Pick Four Selections: $1 wager is $36. 1st Race (3); 2nd Race (1,2); 3rd Race (All); 4th Race (3,6,7). $1 wager is $72. 1st Race (3,5,7); 2nd Race (1,2); 3rd Race (3,4,5,6); 4th Race (3,6,7).
1ST RACE: Purse $8,500, thoroughbreds, claiming, fillies and mares, 3 year olds and up, 4 ½ furlongs.
MILLIE JOEL (McDaid) only lost second by a neck with late rally in last when facing rapid five-length wire-to-wire winner who was class dropping. BABY BEAUTY (Rojas) has plenty of early speed, won at this level two outs ago and catches a fairly paceless field. LADY OF FIRE (Payeras) figures to be prominent early, has hot-riding apprentice up and new barn does well with first-out claims.
2ND RACE: Purse $9,000, maidens, 2 year olds, 870 yards.
MR BINGLEY (Gomez) has been flashing speed vs. tougher fields over the major local thoroughbred circuits and has conditioning edge on a group that includes two debut runners. RED POTATOES (Bednar) has some quick 3-furlong drills for debut and is out of dam who earned $237,957. GAYEBIRD (Aragon) has improved recent drills for debut and her stakes-place dam earned $122,210.
3RD RACE: Purse $8,000, thoroughbreds, claiming, 3 year olds and up, 4 furlongs.
SWISS CHEESE (McDaid) was strong second in last vs. 16-time winner Changing Karma and tries hard every time. OMDURMAN (Bednar) rallied along the inside on the far turn of lat win at this level when taking advantage of quick fractions and should get another positive pace scenario here. SRIRACHA CAT (Payeras) dueled hard for the lead in last two runnerup tries and hits hard at this level.
4TH RACE: Purse $13,500, allowance, 3 year olds and up, 870 yards.
MISS LOUJEAN (Bednar) has fired big fresh before and has won four of her last five 870-yard outings. RED WINE AND DINE (Orozco) showed solid early speed when winning twice over the daytime one-mile oval last September and is a past 870-yard winner. RULE HE WILL (McDaid) also likes this distance where he posted stakes win under this rider three outs back.
5TH RACE: Purse $7,245, maiden claiming, 2 year olds, 300 yards.
ROYAL PERRIER CARTEL (DeAlba) ran a bit erratic midway when seven in last trial outing and was game prior third vs. runnerup who since won a stakes. MONARCH (Mendez) drifted in steadily during the final 1/8 of last runnerup try and has improved with each start. VIP FIRM (Zepeda) had run in reserve after breaking slow in debut to ignore and was under a tight hold in earlier solid 12.2 drill.
Pick Four Selections: $1 wager is $27. 6th Race (1,3,5); 7th Race (All); 8th Race (6); 9th Race (3). $1 wager is $81. 6th Race (1,3,5); 7th Race (All); 8th Race (6); 9th Race (1,3,4).
6TH RACE: Purse $6,860, maiden claiming, 2 year olds, 330 yards.
EAGLES CHOICE (Gasca) was much improved with class drop to this level in last runnerup try. JOLLY WOMPIS (Franco) has been third or better in three of last four tries and takes a nice class drop. LADY BRIAR ROSE (Gonzalez) went fairly well under hand ride after breaking off balance in 12.5 drill for bow.
7TH RACE: Purse $9,800, claiming, 2 year olds, 300 yards.
BUDBREAK (Gasca) dropped neck photo in last good showing vs. repeat $20,000 winner Moon Me Blue and is back at claimed level. CHILDHOOD (Bednar) was only .05 behind top pick in last and has come away clean in all three outs. LINDA SEPARATION (Lozano) was reclaimed by former trainer form last fifth-place try as the favorite and draws a good post.
8TH RACE: Purse $15,000, Z Wayne Griffin Directors Trial, 3 year olds and up, 400 yards.
HEZA DASHA FIRE (C Mendez) is trying to qualify for his fourth consecutive Champion Of Champions and demolished solid field in rapid time at this distance two outs ago. BODACIOUS EAGLE (Jensen) was only beaten a head with clean start in last Grade I Championship and is approaching millionaire status. RIP TIDE (Ayala) looked terrific when daylighting much softer in rapid time 10 weeks ago and can handle the extra distance.
9TH RACE: Purse $15,000, Z Wayne Griffin Directors Trial, 3 year olds and up, 400 yards.
LD IS BACK (Sanchez) acted up in the gate before breaking very slow in last to ignore and was strong prior second vs. 2015 world champion Heza Dasha Fire. ROYALTYS AUTHORITY (DeAlba) was away in sluggish style when sixth in last Grade I outing and has run super from the rail before. ZOOMIN FOR SPUDS (Ayala) never got untracked after breaking slow while bumped in last and looms dangerous if he repeats Grade I victory from three outs ago.
