1ST RACE: Purse $7,000, thoroughbreds, maiden claiming, 3 year olds and up, 4 ½ furlongs.
     SOFT TRIP (Sanchez) rallied nicely for second in first start at this level in last when claimed by trainer who does well with first-out acquistions. LOCO MANGO (Hernandez) was among four horses battling for lead through the opening quarter after sluggish start in last Santa Anita outing vs. much tougher field. NORTH RUN (McDaid) found best stride too late in last two runnerup tries and has solid apprentice up.
 
2ND RACE: Purse $8,000, thoroughbreds, claiming, 3 year olds and up, 4 ½ furlongs.
     JET PAK BLACK (Sanchez) was third vs. much stronger in last pair, lands leading distance rider and is back at claimed level. YODELERS WAY (McDaid) has been idle for 17 weeks since last win at this level and looks plenty fit based on last two drills at 4 and 5 furlongs. ASTUTELY (Bednar) galloped out well when third after one-year layoff in last and won nicely for this rider four outs ago.
 
3RD RACE: Purse $8,500, thoroughbreds, claiming, 3 year olds and up, 4 ½ furlongs.
     RIM DITCH (Sanchez) has terrific early speed, drops to his lowest level and gets top distance pilot for first try at this distance. ZACHIAN (Rojas) was three wide throughout the far turn of last game victory and drops a class level. HUEY (McDaid) overcame pace pressure in last victory at this level and retains rider who is winning at 24 percent clip.
 
4TH RACE: Purse $8,500, thoroughbreds, claiming, 3 year olds and up, 4 furlongs.
     RUNBRORUN (McDaid) looms elusive target from inside post at this distance and set quick pace in last two runnerup tries. COUNCILMAN (Aragon) showed signs of his past class in last runnerup try when defeating recent $2,500 winner Couldashouldadid and looms late threat vs. top pick. GIANT MARK (Orozco) faced much stronger in last sixth-place try over the daytime one-mile oval and was second two outs ago vs. 13-time winner Battle Jet.

     PAPA CABALLERO (McDaid) faced stronger in last fourth-place try over daytime one-mile oval and was game third at this route two outs ago. YOUV JUST BEN FOOSED (Franco0 is one to catch from the rail post and looms dangerous if he repeats runnerup try vs. class-dropping winner from two outs ago. STAY GOLDEN (Bednar) dueled for lead through a solid 4632 first half mile before tiring readily at much longer distance in last Santa Anita outing.
 
6TH RACE: Purse $8,000, maidens, 3 year olds, 300 yards.
     DEVIL IN A BLUE SUIT (Ayala) tried to lug inward throughout in last fifth-place trial outing 18 weeks ago and lands leading rider while back with maidens. FOOSMANCHU (Lozano) broke sharp in last two runnerup tries and has recency edge over top pick. FREIGHTRAIN BLUES (Arana) finally ran to his earlier 12.0 gate drill in last runnerup try after breaking slow in first two outs.
 
7TH RACE: Purse $8,000, maidens, 2 year olds, fillies, 330 yards.
     A SOARING EAGLE (Sanchez) was loaded with run past the wire in sixth-place debut after getting pinballed when veering in at the start. SASSY ON FIRE (Peinado) broke through the gate and got loose when scratch from the eighth race July 13 and finished nicely in both prior drills for debut. MY DASHING SECRET (Arvizu) broke sharp in last improved fifth-place try and trainer is having solid meet.
 
8TH RACE: Purse $11,025, allowance, 2 year olds, 330 yards.
     EL OH EL (C Mendez) wasn’t asked for best in last daylight maiden win and was fourth two outs ago vs. winner who next finished third in the Kindergarten. JESS FLASHEE (Peinado) veered out solidly when bumped out at the start of last third-place try as the favorite after easy prior debut victory. ONE COOL WINNER (Huerta) has been improved in last pair after breaking poorly in first three starts.
