1ST RACE: Purse $8,000, thoroughbreds, claiming, 3 year olds and up, 4 ½ furlongs.
     COUNTRY HERO (Guce) has won four of 16 starts over the past 19 months while never finishing worse than third and holds decisive class edge. RULE BY FAITH (A Boag) battled inside three rivals for command deep on the far turn of last fourth-place try vs. similar and has the winning habit. THERE GOES KEVIN (G Boag) has been freshened for three months since getting jostled solidly leaving the gate in last sixth-place try and runs strong races at times.
2ND RACE: Purse $11,145, claiming, 3 year olds and up, 330 yards.
     PHONE TAG (Sanchez) lugged in steadily during the final 1/8 of last third-place try in claiming stakes and broke nearly two lengths slow in prior fifth-place try vs. stronger. TR BARNSTORMER (C Mendez) deadheated for rapid win in last when making first start for high-percentage Jose Flores barn and gets confident class hike. MCELHENNY (Valenzuela) has looked strong in last two wins after two-month layoff and connections win at high percentage.
3RD RACE: Purse $7,000, thoroughbreds, maiden claiming, 4 ½ furlongs.
     CARCHY CAT (C Marquez) has series of six local drills since May 31 for debut and looks plenty fit based on five consecutive 4-furlong works. NINE OF HEARTS (Boulanger) has shown improved early speed in last two outings and was third vs. class-dropping winner at this level in last. BANKSTER (Bednar) almost lost the rider when dropping far back early in lone start 15 months ago when well supported and returns in a soft spot.
4TH RACE: Purse $11,335, allowance, fillies, 2 year olds, 330 yards.
     NO SECRET CHICKS (R Aceves) broke about one length slow in last runnerup trial outing and beat eventual two-time winner Dunk Two Politicians two outs ago. A GODDESS THRU FIRE (Sanchez) came away in sluggish style when fourth as the favorite in last vs. two next-out winners and was sharp in debut victory over eventual stakes first-place finisher Vivid. SHESA POPPIN FOOSE (Valenuzela) showed ability in two Washington starts earlier this year and lands a solid rider.
5TH RACE: Purse $5,575, maiden claiming, 2 year olds, 300 yards.
     DM LEGACY (C Mendez) finished trying hard for fourth while lugging inward nearly the entire trip of debut and gets positive post switch. REGAL DAMA (S Mendez) was bumped in at the start and shifted inward behind a drifting-out rival midway of fourth-place debut vs. tougher field. WORTH THE PRICE (Huerta) steadied back near the 1/8-pole when losing position from between horses in debut and posted prior 12.4 gate drill.

6TH RACE: Purse $6,745, claiming, 3 year olds and up, 300 yards.
     CHECK OUT THE MOMENT (Valenzuela) broke poorly while getting bumped at the start of last claiming stakes outing and won at this level four races back. HOW HOT (Bednar) broke sharp when dropping nose photo vs. eventual $3,200 runnerup Firepowered in good comeback try at this level. CHICKS ON WINGS (S Mendez) didn’t get his usual quick start in last sixth-place try vs. much tougher and is back at best distance.
7TH RACE: Purse $7,035, maidens, fillies, 2 year olds, 300 yards.
     RUN BY YOU (Valenzuela) broke sharp when third as the 2-5 favorite in debut vs. the night’s second fastest 300-yard winner and unleashed big strides in earlier 12.0 gate drill. SWEET MOONFLASH (C Mendez) displayed a nice stride after lugging in solidly to the 1/16-pole when working alone in good 12.2 drill for debut. JUST A STROLL (S Mendez) beat recent maiden winner Chowchilla Kid in last runnerup try and broke one slow in prior trial outing.
8TH RACE: Purse $12,000, allowance, 3 year olds and up, 330 yards.
     MR CORONA CARTEL (Nicasio) ran second in last year’s Golden State Million Futurity and worked alone in 18.10 gate drill for comeback. SMOOTHE MOVIN CHIC (Sanchez) posted sizzling 17.5 gate work for return and won a Wild West Futurity trial with authority here last year. FIRE UP WILLIE (Arvizu) qualified for two Grade I futurities here in 2013 and lands nice post for return.
9TH RACE: Purse $71,640, Bank Of America California Regional Challenge, 3 year olds and up, 440 yards.
     SCATMANDU (Valenzuela) ran second in last year’s Los Alamitos Super Derby and looks ready for return with rapid 17.6 gate drill three weeks ago. CREOLE WILLIAMS (C Mendez) broke slow from a tougher post in last seventh-place Grade I outing and extra distance suits late-running style. JESS FEATUREME QUICK (Sanchez) won this race last year and was fifth from the rail in last Grade I outing vs. 2013 Golden State Derby winner Far Niente.
