For the second time this week, owner/breeder Ed Allred enjoyed a winning double with his freshman sprinters at Los Alamitos. It was Sadie Sis and More Than Wild on Friday night and on Sunday it was a pair of TR Dasher babies trained by Scott Willoughby which provided the wins for the owners. The bay gelding Doing Lunch was the winner in the sixth race while the gray filly Moonlighter (left) scored in the seventh with both races being held at 300 yards.
Ridden by Rodrigo Aceves, Doing Lunch covered the distance in :15.727 while scoring a half length victory over First Rodeo. Gregorio Arriaga guided Moonlighter to a half-length win over Coronas Eagle in a time of :15.552. Moonlighter is out of the multiple stakes winning mare Moonlight Corona. Doing Lunch is out of the the mare Now You Comeat Noon, who was an allowance winner at Los Alamitos and a top three finisher in nine of 15 starts.
In Sunday's other event for juveniles, Parsons Ranch's Corona For Jay (below) edged Lucky Tobe Here by a neck to win the evening's second race. A gelding by Tinys First Corona, Corona For Jay covered the 300 yards in a time of :15.775 for jockey Francisco Rubio and trainer Chris O'Dell. The event was for $6,250 claimers and it featured seven 2-year-olds.
