       Abigail Kawananakoa purchased a filly by First Down Dash out of the Takin On The Cash mare Takin Some Gold for $100,000 to make her the highest seller after the first of two session of the Los Alamitos Equine Sale on Saturday night. The second session will kick off at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

 

Consigned by La Presita LLC, the high seller is a sorrel filly Down Some Gold, who is a half sister to Golden State Derby third place finisher Danny Cartel, Governor’s Cup Futurity and Derby finalist Don Loncho, Kindergarten Futurity finalist Separatist Jr and Governor’s Cup Futurity finalist Foose Cash Sr. Down Some Gold is eligible to run in next year’s trials to the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity, Golden State Million Futurity and Ed Burke Million Futurity, PCQHRA Breeders Futurity and is AQHA Racing Challenge eligible. His mother, Takin Some Gold, ran in the Restricted Grade 3 Black Gold 330 Futurity. Down Some Gold’s second dam is the mother of Rainbow and Ruidoso Derby finalist Skyline Chick. 

  

First Down Dash also sired the day’s second highest seller in the filly One Two Dash, who was purchased for $85,000 for Dan Moon. Out of the Chicks Beduino mare One Chick Two Chick, One Two Dash is a half sister to El Primero Del Ano Derby finalist Fighting City Hall and 870-yard Gold Rush Derby winner Streakazoid.

 

Smith, Yates, Young and Shanferd paid $60,000 for the Walk Thru Fire colt Johnny Walker from the Burns Ranch consignment. Johnny Walker is the first foal out of the Corona Cartel mare Preciouse Cartel. He’s from the family of Corona Crystal, Crystal Sola and Dashing Phoebe. The Corona Cartel colt Reina Corona was purchased for $50,000 by Juan H. Moya from 6666 Ranch Agent. Reina Corona is from the family of stakes winners Brookstone Bay and Valors Gold. Rod MacPherson Jr. purchased the Separatist colt Bouncer for $50,000 to complete the top five selling yearlings. Consigned by Ed Allred, Bouncer is the first foal out of Golden State Million Futurity winner The Partys On Fire.

 

Spackman Racing bought the Corona Cartel 5-year-old mare Gotta Corona Habit for $30,000 to make her the day’s top selling broodmare. Gotta Corona Habit is believed to be in foal to FDD Dynasty. Her mother is the Los Alamitos Winter Derby winner One More Habit. 

 

A total of 116 yearlings sold for $1,528,600. The sale average for yearlings on day one was $13,178. Twenty mares sold for an average price of $8,355. Gross sales on mares was $167,100. The sale average for all 138 horses sold was $12,378 for gross sales of $1,708,200.
