LOS ALAMITOS EQUINE SALE EARLY
CONSIGNMENTS LOOK GREAT
With just three weeks left to consign a
horse to the 2nd annual Los Alamitos Equine Sale, the upcoming catalog is
already brimming with potential stars and outstanding breeding lines.
Heading the early list of consignments is a full brother to star freshman
stallion Check Him Out and the last foal out of the late champion
broodmare Seperate Ways.
The Los Alamitos Equine Sale will be held on October 7 and 8 and
will be held once again on the grounds of the old Cypress Golf Course
Clubhouse. Last year's set up was acclaimed as the best outdoor facility
ever seen at a Quarter Horse yearling sale. The final day to consign a
yearling, broodmare or horse of mixed stock is Saturday, July 15. For
information call 714-236-1755.

As for the list of yearlings already in the sale, Zory Kuzyk
and D.Wayne Lukas have consigned a Hennessy colt named Masters Call, who
is a full brother to Ed Burke Futurity and Golden State Derby winner Check
Him Out. Masters Call is out of the stakes winning mare Check Her Twice.
Check Him
Out is currently the nation's leading freshman sire thanks to Sir
Shackleton's dead-heat win in the Ruidoso Futurity and Check This Runner's
runner-up effort in the Kindergarten Futurity.
Ed Allred has consigned the last foal out of the late champion
broodmare Seperate Ways to this year's Equine Sale. Seperate Ways has
produced several outstanding runners headed by champion Separatist, a
winner of $889,044 and the sire of World Champion DM
Shicago.
Seperate
Ways has also produced 1989 champion 2-year-old Way Maker, a winner of
$617,444 and the Golden State, Dash For Cash and Governor's Cup
futurities. She is also the dam of PCQHRA Breeders Derby and Futurity
winner Make It Anywhere. In addition, Seperate Ways' daughter Makin Ways
is the dam of 1998 Los Alamitos Million Winner Kingman Kid.
This year's Equine Sale will feature a Hawkinson colt that is the
last foal out of the great Seperate Ways. This unnamed yearling is one of
59 consigned by Allred, a nine-time AQHA champion breeder, to the Los
Alamitos Equine Sale.
Other Allred consignments include Dynamic Dasher, a Fishers Dash
filly who is a half sister to champions Hawkinson and Hawkish. Allred-bred
yearlings include an unnamed filly that is a full sister to Los Alamitos
Million and Winter Derby finalist He Storms and Toby Dasher, a colt by
Fishers Dash out of Flare For Toby.
Right now there are a total of 12 First Down Dash babies that have
been consigned to the Equine Sale. Vessels Stallion Farm has entered five
yearlings sired by the sport's all-time leading sire First Down Dash to
this year's sale. These babies include First Icy Morn, a full brother to
Ed Burke Million Futurity finalist First Down Morn and No Moon On The
Rise, a full sister to Los Alamitos Million winner Your First Moon.
Vessels Stallion Farm has also consigned the filly Another Corona,
who is out of the great Sizzling Lil. Another Corona is a full sister to
champion millionaire Corona Kool, Governor's Cup Futurity finalist Hot As
Hell and multiple stakes placed Grade 1 runner Corona Cocktail, who earned
$214,718 in his career. Another Corona is also a half sister to legendary
champion Corona Chick. Vessels Stallion Farms and Kirk Goodfellow are the
breeders of First Down Dash colt Catchmeonthebackside, who is a half
brother to three time champion aged gelding Catchmeinyourdreams. A filly
out of Six Foals Annie is the other First Down Dash baby in the Vessels
Stallion Farm stock.
Vessels Stallion Farm's book also features Hateful Handsome, a full
brother to champion 2-year-old filly Hardly Hateful, who ran second to
Ocean Runaway in the 2004 Los Alamitos Million Futurity, and Almost
Classy, a half sister of Ed Burke Million finalist No Secrets Here.
Vessels Stallion Farm also consigned Hanna Cartel, a colt by Corona Cartel
out of Hateful Hanna.
Vessels Stallion Farm was the nation's top breeder in stakes wins
in 2005, with owners who purchased their Vessels-bred horses as yearlings
enjoying 80 percent of those stakes wins.
The
list of consignments also has an unnamed colt, who is a half-brother to
2000 World Champion A Ransom and last year's Champion of Champions
finalist Righteous Brother. Out of Chicks Got Pazazz, this Hawkinson colt
has been consigned by Pazazz Quarter Horses Ltd. Evans/Evans & Burnett
Ranches have consigned Fabulous Knockout, a Mr Jess Perry filly out of
Genuine Knockout, who produced local stakes winner Rojo Dancer.
Anjora Corp has consigned an unnamed Separatist filly out of More
Heart, the 2001 La Primera Del Ano Derby winner, while John Sperry has
consigned Eyesa Flyer, a Strawfly Special colt out of his multiple stakes
winning mare Inthetwinkleofaneye. Denise and Alan Tyler consigned Push
Your Pulse, a full brother to 2001 All American Futurity winner Ausual
Suspect and half brother to Senior Solo, who ran in the Los Alamitos,
Southern California and PCQHRA Breeders derbies last year. Consignments
are being added daily to the Los Alamitos Equine Sale to be held on
October 7 & 8.

ALLRED AND VESSELS STALLION FARMS TO
CONDUCT HORSE SALE OCTOBER 7-8 AT LOS
ALAMITOS

Harems Legacy in the sale
ring
After a great inaugural event, the Los
Alamitos Equine Sale is ready for a bigger, better and classier event in
2006 according to sale organizers.
"The 2005 sale
was a triple homerun but we're looking forward to hitting this sale out of
the park as well," said Ed Allred, the owner of Los Alamitos Race Course.
"We looked at the sale from all angles and we're taking action to improve
what needed to be improved. We had a super event in 2005 and we're
confident that the 2006 Equine Sale will be even better."
Allred and
Vessels Stallion Farms are running the sale, which will be administered by
the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Racing Association. The two-day event will
take place on Saturday, October 7 and Sunday, October 8 and will feature a
catalog of Quarter Horse yearlings, broodmares and mixed stock. Allred and
Vessels Stallion Farms' sale stock will highlight the sale.
"It was the best
organized sale that I've ever attended and everything from the venue, the
food and the sanitation was perfect." Allred
added.
The sale will once again be held for the first time at the
Clubhouse of the old Cypress Golf Course. The sale will feature a
beautiful open-air sales pavilion and great looking barns.

"It's a perfect venue," said Frank "Scoop" Vessels. "We had a
great turnout and some outstanding horses. They say that whenever you have
great horses in your sales catalog you will get a great turnout. Our
friends from Texas and Oklahoma were here and we also had a large Hispanic
crowd in attendance, which was great to see. It was everything that we
were hoping for and more."
Over the years, Allred, a
record nine-time AQHA champion breeder, has bred and sold such standouts
as champions Separatist, Hawkish and Hawkinson. Vessels Stallion Farms,
the 1999 AQHA champion breeder, has bred and sold the likes of champions
Old Habits, Iba Dasher, and First Sovereign. Vessels Stallion Farms is
also the home of the sport's all-time leading sire First Down Dash.
Vessels Stallion Farms was the co-breeder of Harems Legacy, last year's
sale topper at $330,000.
Spencer Childers, the breeder of
World Champion Be A Bono, will have a strong consignment of horses at the
sale, as will the top breeders in California and from around the country.
The auction held at Los Alamitos in 2005 was a tremendous success with an
average of $19,975 on the 225 Yearlings sold. Seven yearlings sold for
$110,000 or higher with the average on the top 10 yearlings sold being
$143,900.
All yearlings consigned to the Los
Alamitos Equine Sales Company will be eligible to the PCQHRA Breeders
Futurity/Derby. For information about consigning to the sale, or to
request a catalog, call (714) 236-1755.

2005
REVIEW
The sale
was held Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2 at Los Alamitos Race Course.
This sale has replaced the Pacific Coast Yearling and Mixed Stock Sale
on the calendar. The PCQHRA will remain as the primary administrator of
the sale. Allred and
Vessels Stallion Farms have also announced plans for a new sales venue plus the
upgrading of barn stalls for all horses in the sale.

The PCQHRA will remain as the primary administrator of the
sale.
The sale features broodmares, weanlings, horses of racing age
and mixed stock. The sale featured Allred's sale stock consisting of 72
head of horses and Vessels Stallion Farms' stock of 35 yearlings and 10
broodmares. The sale catalog featured over 400 head of horses, making it
one of the largest sale ever in terms of horses administered by the
PCQHRA.
"This was
a first-class sale throughout," Vessels said. "We are very excited about
the new venue where the sale was held at Los Alamitos, plus the
horses enjoyed the fact that they did not have to travel far to reach
the sale ring."
Over the years,
Allred, a record nine-time AQHA champion breeder, has bred and sold such
standouts as champions Separatist, Hawkish and Hawkinson. Vessels Stallion
Farms, the 1999 AQHA champion breeder, has bred and sold the likes of champions
Old Habits, Iba Dasher, and First Sovereign. Vessels Stallion Farms is also the
home of the sport's all-time leading sire First Down Dash.

Ed Allred sold #6 Hawkish for $90,000 at the 2002 Sale at
Los Alamitos
Spencer
Childers, the breeder of World Champion Be A Bono, has a strong consignment
of horses at the sale, as did the top breeders in California and many from
around the country.

Spencer Childers
Harems Legacy, a
full brother to champions First Sovereign and Royal Quick Dash, was the top
seller at $330,000. FDD Dynasty, who sold at the Equine Sale for $70,000, has
since won the Grade 1 $1,142,000 Ed Burke Million Futurity. No Secrets Here and
Ten Oclock Scholar, a pair of Ed Burke qualifiers, also graduated from the Los
Alamitos Equine Sale.
WHAT THEY SAID ABOUT THE 1ST ANNUAL LOS
ALAMITOS EQUINE SALE
Ed Allred and Frank "Scoop"
Vessels hosted the first annual Los Alamitos Equine Sale on October 1 and 2.
Here are reactions from some of Quarter Horse racing's most prominent horsemen
regarding the two-day sale:
Butch Wise - Lazy E
Ranch agent and part owner of 2005 All American Futurity winner Teller
Cartel.
"This was a fantastic sale. It
was very well organized and the food was by far the best of any sale I've been
to this year. It was a great venue and we'll certainly be back next year."
Laverne Perry -
Executive Director of the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders
Association.
"This sale was absolutely
awesome. This is the best outdoor facility that I've ever seen for a horse sale.
The barns were first class and the tent was definitely the most
impressive I've ever seen. Of course, the climate makes it great. This has been
a wonderful sale and the horses are selling great."
Kim Kessinger - Co-owner of 2002
Co-World Champion Whosleavingwho
"What a great sale. It was well
run and it had a great set up. The food was great and everyone was very
accommodating, which is typical of Los Alamitos. It was very nice all
around."
Denny Hill - Owner of All
American Futurity winner AB What A Runner
"There were a lot of horses and
the good ones sold for good prices. The facility was very nice and everyone did
a super job putting the sale together."
Dawn and Rhonda List of
Double Bar S Ranch - Owners of this year's PCQHRA Breeders Futurity
runner-up Aziwasaying.
Dawn List: "We loved the set up.
The weather was perfect. There were some wonderful horses and the catalog was
great. We sold Tailor Fit's half-brother for $150,000 and were really happy
with the two fillies that we purchased from Doc (Allred). He told us they were
to of his favorite fillies at the sale."
Rhonda List: "We were the under
bidders on sale topper Harems Legacy. We really wanted him but Doc beat us to
him. He has since syndicated Harems Legacy and we were able to buy one share on
the horse. We are thrilled about that."
Dr. James Streelman and Denny
Boer - Dutch Masters III partners and owners of Ed Burke Million Futurity
winner Higher Fire and Kindergarten Futurity winner Gold Nugget
Rd.
Denny
Boer: "I loved the beautiful green grass - there was something about that
that really made everything nice. It was easy to preview the horses. We
talked to management about a couple of things that we thought would make the
sale better for next year and they are things that can easily be fixed."
James Streelman: "We bought about
19 head and we thought it was a very nice sale. The one thing I would love to
see is free drinks," Streelman said with a big smile. "An open bar! That's my
suggestion. You give my partner Denny Boer a couple of drinks and he'll buy
anything," Streelman said jokingly.
