Career Profile: As far as trainers are concerned, Blane is quarter horse racing. He owns just about every record in the Los Alamitos record books including the most wins with nearly 3,650 and most stakes wins. Blane has captured 38 quarter horse training titles at Los Alamitos. The AQHA has awarded the title of Champion Trainer a total of 20times and Blane has been the recipient of 12 of those titles.
The list of horses Blane has trained is a very long and prestigious one, including two-time world champion Refrigerator, the sport's richest horse. His champions on the track have included First Down Dash, Cash Rate, Jumping Tac Flash, Cash Perks, Splash Bac, Dashing Val, Town Policy, Winalota Cash, First Sovereign, Miss Thermolark, My Debut, Sign It Super and Dash For Speed, to name just a few. Last year, he was the second-leading trainer in the nation by wins with 119 and second in money earned with $1.3 million.
Blane officially went over the mark of $50 million in lifetime earnings thanks to Secret Samuri on January 19. AQHA records list his earnings at around $52 million. His true total is higher as previous to 1970, AQHA did not keep individual records.  Blane is also a top breeder and owner of horses. Last year he was the fifth-leading breeder in the nation by races won, with Schvaneveldt-bred horses winning 63 races from 380 starts with $582,133. Over the last several years, owners have been able to purchase top-quality yearlings, including several Schvaneveldt-bred horses, first at the annual Vessels/Schvaneveldt Yearling Sale and now at the Schvaneveldt/Andreini Yearling and Mixed Stock Sale in Pomona.  Blane, a native of Idaho who started his first horse at Los Alamitos in 1968, is honored at Wyoming Downs every year, when they run the annual Blane Schvaneveldt Futurity. Blane is a member of the AQHA Hall of Fame and the  Idaho Quarter Horse  Association Hall of Fame.
Blane is still as dedicated as ever to his work.  For example, After Blane had back surgery in February 2003, doctors told him that it would two months before the legendary trainer could return to care for his horses at Los Alamitos. But there was simply no way that the sport's greatest trainer would be able stay away from his barn for that long. I was back in the barn about a week after the surgery, Blane said. And it felt good to be back. I had a few things that I wanted to take care of.
