Career Profile: Billy is the track's all-time leading Arabian trainer and will likely become the all-time leader in Arabian stakes win this year as well. The trainer has simply been the breed's dominant conditioner the past five years, winning the title three of those campaigns. Billy had raced at Delaware Park for most of the 1980s before first visiting Los Alamitos in 1992. He has made the Orange County track his home every year since, with the exception of 1999 and 2003. "You get to run more races out here," Lewis said of his decision to return to Los Alamitos. "You get to run in your conditions more out here. There's just more opportunities to run." A quarter horse trainer in the 1970s, Billy began his Arabian business as a show horse trainer in 1980.  "I actually started out showing Arabs the first year, and I didn't like that," Lewis recalled. "I got the people that were showing Arabs involved in racing, and we've been racing ever since." His top horses include the outstanding mares Shippey Lane and Rodania Arbi.
