| MANDOLYNN HILLS FARM Dr. Mickey Morgan and his wife, Michelle, own and operate Mandolynn Hill Farms in Aubrey, Texas. The Morgans opened the farm in 1987 and have involved in Arabian horse racing since 1994. Dr. Mickey Morgan is a physician, while Michelle concentrates on the breeding and racing aspect of the sport. It keeps me busy, she said.We were involved in the show world and horse racing looked like fun. We had some stock with racing line at the time. We would later purchase our first race horse from Scott and Carol Gibson in Texas. His name was Amazing Son. He was so much fun, he won, he won, he won. We thought this was easy. We bought a few more horses after Amazing Son and we have been involved in the sport ever since. Amazing Son, a winner of 12 of 28 starts, has since become an outstanding stallion. Fifty-six percent of his starters have developed into stakes horses. Mandolynn Hill Farm enjoyed a sensational year in 2004, as the Morgan-owned operation was named the Arabian Racing Association of California Owner of the Year. They won 15 races from 75 starters at Los Alamitos last year. Their big local star was Shippey Lane, the winner of the inaugural Iron Horse Distaff Series. One reason that we have stayed involved in the sport is because of a place like Los Alamitos Race Course, Michelle added. Los Alamitos has always been good to us and it is a track where we feel welcomed. I like the fact that they run several Arabian races each week, so our horses always have an opportunity to run. Plus, with TVG I can watch every one of my horses run. Mandolynn Hill Farm was also recognized as the Texas Arabian Breeders Association Breeder of the Year. The farm was received a Darley Award nomination for outstanding owner. Two of their best runners were also Darley nominees in the form of Heart Commander for older horse and Shippey Lane for older female. Mandolynn Hill Farm offers a full facility breeding and training center. The farm breeds and raises horses for racing, showing, endurance and family pets. Breeding services include artificial insemination, mare motel, 24 Hour foaling barns, and weaning. As a leading owner and breeder of Arabian racehorses, Mandolynn Hill Farm has diversified into breeding a variety of top equine performers including Arabians and Thoroughbreds. The farm is also the home of several top stallions, such as Ala Croixnoire - an international champion sire of three Darley Champions> Legendary Arabian stallion KA Czubuthan, and Zachzell also stand at Mandolynn. Zachzell sired two Darley nominees from his first three starters as a freshman sire in 2004. |
