-Won the PCQHRA Breeders' Derby
with Make It Anywhere in 2001
-Won
the PCQHRA Breeders' Futurity with Make It Anywhere in
2000 One of the first
horses bred by owner Francisco Gonsalez turned out to be one of the best
2-year-old sprinters in 2004. Gonsalez's homebred Like Frankie And Me finished
second in the Golden State Million and was also a finalist to the Los Alamitos
Million last year. "Like Frankie And Me had made less
than $10,000 coming into the Golden State trials, so I was amazed when he beat
two horses of the quality of (Ed Burke Futurity winner) Heza Secret Diamond and
(Ruidoso Futurity winner) All About Ease in his trial," Gonsalez said. "This
horse won his trial to the All American Futurity in his second start, but on
that day he ran greenly and he threw a front shoe."
Like Frankie And Me then posted the third fastest qualifying time to the Los
Alamitos Million. The gelding is now expected to compete in all of the major
summer and fall derbies. Gonsalez is
best known for having won the PCQHRA Breeders Derby and Futurity with two-time
California champion Make It Anywhere.in 2000-01. Make It Anywhere now stands at
Lazy E Ranch in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Gonsalez owns a farm in Newhall, California,
where he grows 26 different types of vegetables including cilantro, onions, and
radishes. He also makes and distributes several different types of tequilas such
as Hacienda Vieja and Tierra Del Sol. In addition
to Like Frankie and Me, Gonsalez's barn will feature Lettis All. The mare was a
solid allowance winner last season and a sure-fire broodmare of the future for
the operation. |
