ANNE SEYMOUR

Anne Seymour, who had won many top Arabian futurities in California with horses like Seyvilla Wikeyna and Seyvilla Proof, moved from her native England to the United States back in 1962.
Anne had already fallen in love with horses in England when she began showing Arabians in the United States. As a young girl, I spent most of my free time out with the ponies. Anne made the switch from showing Arabians to racing Arabians in 1985.
I had this good-looking 2-year-old colt out in a small paddock. He was never still unless he was eating or sleeping, she said. I thought, gosh, surely he would be good in racing. His name was Seyvilla Triumph.
Seymour asked several trainers for their opinion of Seyvilla Triumph, and finally sent the horse to the track as a 3-year-old. Seyvilla Triumph ran third in a race at Ocala, Florida and then shipped to Delaware Park, where he was sold only three days after his arrival. When he didn't race for Seymour again, he won the LAHA Derby and finished second in the California Derby for his new owners, earning the title of 1995 3-Year-Old Colt of the Year. "That was my debut into Arabian racing. Needless to say, it was a terminal bug I contracted that year," Anne said.
She has owned many outstanding racehorses since then. Seyvilla Proof won the Firecracker Futurity for colts and geldings at Los Alamitos in 1998, while Seyvilla Wikeyna was the 1996 Darley Award winner in the 3-Year-Old Filly division. Anne also campaigned Sey Mag Proof, the multiple winner who was the runner-up in the California Derby.
