Jim Geiler and Kim Kessinger have been partners on several horses since
reigning AQHA Champion Trainer John Bassett introduced them at Ruidoso Downs a
few years ago. The two have become great friends and business partners outside
of racing. As far as horses are concerned, the owners acquired Whosleavingwho
for $40,000 at the 1999 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale with Bassett training
Whosleavingwho during his 2-year-old and most of his 3-year-old campaign and
Jones taking over since then. "It's took him 18 wins to become a
millionaire and we've loved every one of them," Geiler said. "Watching him
become a millionaire has been a lot of fun for us. Los Alamitos is a wonderful
place for an older horse to run and we'll keep letting him run as long as he
looks like he's having fun doing it." Kessinger added. "Fast horses and good
friends, this sport has been a lot of fun for us. Who knew that we would be so
lucky to get a horse like Whosleavingwho? He is a once in a lifetime
horse. To own him is a great honor."
Kessinger and Geiler are partners on several other horses including Meteoric,
the runner-up in the Los Alamitos Winter Championship, and Rainbow Juvenile
qualifier Hold Em Now. They are also partners on Love Ya Miss Jess, who competed
in the Lassie Handicap, and a Chicks Beduino colt named Righter. Kessinger and
his wife Lila operate K & K Farm in Akron, Colorado. The Kessingers have
owned the cattle farm since the mid 1970s. The couple also own Washington County
Title Company, which specializes in abstract titles. Geiler is a cattle rancher
from Fort Summer, New Mexico. The duo is also part of the ownership that
campaigns the hard-knocking gelding Meteoric. The son of Chicks Beduino has been
involved in 13 stakes races over his career with his best efforts being
second in the Los Alamitos Winter Championship and Los Alamitos Million
Futurity and a third in the All American Futurity.
