Bruno De Julio Racing personality Bruno De Julio is widely recognized as the Workout Analyst for Today's Racing Digest since February 1992. He also covers racing news from across the nation, writing articles, columns, and the www.racingwithbruno.com daily analysis for the Southern California circuit. Involved in the sport since he made his trip to Del Mar in 1984, De Julio is currently one of the featured contributors of the Inside Racing Radio show with host Jason Levine. The show airs on 570 XTRA Sports every Saturday and Sunday at 8 am. De Julio's segment usually runs at 8:50 am on both weekend days. The author of Bruno On Workouts: Exposing the Mystery, the veteran analyst donates partial proceeds from the book's sales ato the CERF foundation for retired thoroughbreds. Sweet Freedom is a horse that's very close to De Julio's heart. "Sweet Freedom got me back into the game of owning horses last year. BC 3 and John Brocklebank of Utah showed me Sweet Freedom as a 2-year-old at Barretts Sale in February of 2006. John told me, 'this horse has some run in him.' I bought him for only 2,500 and he's gone on to earn $43,005 in his career. He's done a lot of good for us. We also donated a portion of his earnings to a charity that helps G.I.s that have returned after serving our country. Sweet Freedom is a very special horse for those reasons. When Sweet Freedom tells us that he doesn't want to run anymore, I'll make sure that he has a very nice home for the rest of his life." De Julio is excited about his future as a racehorse owner. "The second crop of horses that I bought with John Brocklebank has turned out to be quite a crop. We have some good 2-year-olds. We have won five races from 11 starts this year. We try to take good care of our horses. We try to run them where they belong and minimize the expenses for the owner that are also involved with these horses and that's the bottom line. The six 2-year-olds that we currently have 12 owners that have never owned horses until now. That's something that I'm proud of that. It means that we've introduced these owners to the wonderful enjoyment of racehorse ownership. We hope to keep it going. I want these owners to enjoy their horses." The most notable of the 2-year-olds is Sea Of Pleasure, who crushed the 2-furlong track record at Santa Anita on March 29 while nearly setting a world record with that effort. De Julio is also involved with the partnership that owns Remember Boffi, a winner of two of four starts and a stakes placed runner in the Jack Goodman Stakes, and Elsie Jo, a winner of two of five outings. In past years, De Julio has owned and raced Thoroughbreds Majestic Sound, Star Orphan and Slash The Price. A resident of Marina Del Rey, De Julio has two daughters, Gioanna and Alessandra.
