LOS ALAMITOS ENHANCES LA PRIMERA DEL ANO DERBY FOR 2020, RENAMES IT THE LOS ALAMITOS OAK WITH A PROJECTED $400,000 PURSE
STATEMENT FROM LOS ALAMITOS OWNER ED ALLRED:
“The recent announcement of the spin off from the All American Derby and Rainbow Derby of an ‘Oaks’ race for 3 year old fillies at Ruidoso was a welcomed concept. Los Alamitos Race Course has decided to enhance the former La Primera Del Ano for 3 year old fillies, renaming it the Los Alamitos Oaks with $125,000 added, $350,000 guaranteed and projected over $400,000. The 400 yard trials for the Los Alamitos Oaks will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 and the rich final will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2020. These are traditional dates on the stakes schedule occupied by the La Primera Del Ano Derby.
“Los Alamitos will continue its commitment to filly and mare racing with the Grade 1, $100,000 Charger Bar, Grade 1, $125,000 Mildred Vessels, Grade 3 Las Damas Handicap, Grade 3 Miss Princess Handicap, Denim N Diamonds Handicap, La Pacifica Handicap, Ivan Ashment Handicap, California Breeders Freshman Fillies Stakes, Restricted Grade 3 California Breeders Matron Stakes, California Breeders Debutante Stakes and frequent overnight handicaps and allowance and claiming races.
“Please don’t forget as with all futurities and derbies sponsored by Los Alamitos Race Course, there are NO administrative and advertising fees. One-hundred percent of the fees are added to the purse of the race.”

LOS ALAMITOS FEATURES A GREAT TRADITION OF CHAMPION 3-YEAR-OLD FILLIES
Since 1989, 18 AQHA champion 3-year-old fillies won at least one races at Los Alamitos during their championship campaigns. Most recently in 2018, Parsons Family Limited Partnership’s A Political Lady, the winner of the La Primera Del Ano Derby, was named the AQHA champion 3-year-old filly on the strength of her multiples winning campaign at Los Alamitos. The last three sophomore fillies to win the title of AQHA World Champion (See Me Do It in 1989, Dashing Folly in 1987 and Blues Girl Too in 2007) all won at least one major stakes race at Los Alamitos during their championship season.
