            Blanchard, Bryant, Hubbard and Lewis’ Budderlicous and Reliances Ranches’ Needs No Intro, a pair of graduates of the 2018 Ruidoso Yearling Sale from the McColee Land & Livestock consignment, finished 1-2 in their debut during the seventh race on Friday at Los Alamitos.

Ridden by Cody Jensen for trainer Chris O’Dell, Budderlicous was fantastic in winning this 300-yard race, as he broke perfectly from post number eight and then powered his way to a 1 ½ length victory in a time of :15.612. Purchased for $86,000 at the New Mexico sale, the son of Corona Cartel is out of the broodmare Budder Think Twice, who ran in the 2015 Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity and was second in the Restricted Grade 1 Governor’s Cup Futurity.

Trained by Mike Robbins and with Ruben Castro aboard, Needs No Intro posted a solid second place finish while covering the distance in :15.856 in his debut. The son of the 2008 champion One Famous Eagle is out of the 2011 champion Separate Fire. One Famous Eagle won the 2007 Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity and the 2008 Grade 1 Los Alamitos Super Derby, while Separate Fire won the Grade 1 Kindergarten Futurity and Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity in 2011. He was purchased for $125,000 by Reliance Ranches. Both runners are eligible to all of the major races at Los Alamitos, including the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity, Golden State Million Futurity and next year’s Los Alamitos Super Derby.

In the fifth race for fillies, Kent Kleinknecht’s Movie Star K won the 300-yard dash by ¾ lengths in a time of :15.842. The filly by 2014 champion Kiss My Hocks and out of the stakes winner Scared. Carlos Huerta piloted her for trainer Juan Aleman.
