VIDEO LINK
Worked in between horses as part of a three-horse drill with the Tac It Like A Man gelding Junnior Bonner, who worked from the inside in 12.7, and the Texas Icon gelding Kenny Wayne, who traveled from the outside in :12.4. Tell Foose, a half-brother of Grade 1 winner Tell Cartel, flashed quickness in between rivals, pulled away from Junnior Bonner early on, continued without being asked while hooking up with Kenny Wayne from there in route to hitting the wire together. Tell Foose had an easy gallop out from there on the way to posting the 2nd fastest of 25 drills.
#6 Jackson Lane – June 2 :12.70 at 220 yards – Inside Horse
Gelding by Hes Relentless was outworked by Jess Good Corona 12.6 to 12.7. Jackson Lane broke alertly and had his mind on running right away. Was asked early right-handed, did not move to the next gear, was asked a couple of more times right before the wire while finishing a half-length behind Jess Good Corona. He continued working hard after the wire and showed a lot of desire to fight during his gallop out.
#8 Mesquite Bay – June 6 :12.40 at 220 yards – Outside Horse
Was part of the a three-horse set when working with the First Down King gelding Hes A Streaking King, who worked in :12.9 from the inside, and the Favorite Cartel colt Custom Hat, who worked in :12.4 from the middle. A colt by Favorite Cartel, Mesquite Bay broke inside, but quickly moved back to the outside, leveling out while moving nicely from the outside. He continued to move solidly without being asked before drifting to the inside in the final stages of the work, while still showing good energy through the wire. He had a very solid gallop down the lane before slowing around the turn. His time was the fastest of 10 drills on June 6.
RACE 6 – MAIDEN – 2-YEAR-OLD FILLIES AT 300 YARDS
#2 Nanishay Prize – May 30 :12.70 at 220 yards – Outside horse
Filly by Fast Prize Cartel worked from the outside as part of a three-horse drill on May 30. He worked with El Noa Noa Cartel, a Fast Prize Cartel gelding who traveled in :12.7 from the inside, and Catalina Rocket, a filly by A Mere Chocolate who worked in between horses in :12.6. Nanishay Prize was a bit fidgety before the start, broke slow and to the inside out of the gate. It took her a bit to get going, but halfway through the drill she had a huge burst of speed to make up over a length on El Noa Noa Cartel while continuing strongly to the wire while finishing a length behind Catalina Rocket. Nanishay Rocket posted the 15th fastest of 25 drills.
#6 Izzy B Gone – May 30 :12.40 at 220 yards – Outside Horse
Favorite Cartel filly was purchased for $17,000 at Los Alamitos Equine Sale. She posted a 12.4 clocking here while outworking the Separate Interest filly Fair And Wise. Leaving from the outside post, Izzy B Gone broke in, bobbled just a bit, but came back out nicely to get into a fluid stride. She was flagged twice by her rider after the gap and she continued strongly, moving quickly and motoring through the wire while under a hold. Solid work resulted in the 2nd fastest of 25 drills on May 30.
Lethal Dream – May 26 :12.30 at 220 yards – Outside
This Volcom filly worked from the gate here after running a troubled fifth in her racing debut back on May 9. She outworked the filly Interest First 12.3 to 12.8 here after leaving the gate with quick, compact, fast strides to take the lead in this work. He started to stretch out his stride after the gap, eating up big chunks of yardage, while pulling away from her workmate on the way to winning the drill by two lengths. She continued with a solid gallop out from there while posting the fastest of 11 works on May 26.
RACE 8 – ALLOWANCE – 3-YEAR-OLDS AT 330 YARDS
#2 Sass Mo Blue – May 26 :18.0 at 350 yards – SOLO
Apollitical Jess gelding will be making his first start since winning the $109,500 Los Alamitos Maiden Stakes on February 16. Sass Mo Blue was moving his head around before the gate opened and he left the gate with his first jump a bit wide, moving to the inside before recovering nicely to find a very fluid stride soon after. He looked smoother and smoother with each stride, finishing the drill strongly and continuing with a solid gallop out from there.
