ALLRED, GLENN UNVEIL JUVENILE COLTS BY FLY THRU THE FIRE
James Glenn, Jr. had eight juveniles post works on Thursday morning, including a first look at six colts for Hall of Fame owner Ed Allred and sired by first-year sire Fly Thru The Fire.
The young runners all posted sharp times on Thursday with (left photo) New And Better and Watch Out working evenly in the morning’s first set in a 220-yard time of :12.5 and (photo below) ound About and Quarrelsome working evenly in :12.6 in set number eight. Glenn also worked Fly Over and Benevolent as a pair in :12.8 and Max Girl and The Kids A Cowboy in :12.9, the latter an Oregon-bred colt for David and Leah Nelson. Here’s a closer look at some of Glenn’s trainees.
Other top 2-year-olds to work on Thursday included David Hinkin’s Mason Jar, a filly by Favorite Cartel out of Ruths Chris, and Steamy Secret, a filly by Favorite Cartel out of Ynot Bar.
Mason Jar won her gate drill over the Chicks Beduino filly California State in :12.6 to :12.7. Mason Jar is a full sister to two-time graded derby winner Black Fryday ($343,853). Steamy Secret, who worked from the outside in :13.1, is a full sister to two-time Grade 1 winner Tequila Sangria and half-sister to 2015 Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby winner Ynot Walk. Steamy Secret is owned by Kolleen Ledgerwood and trained by Roberto Dominguez.
