Lethal Blood and Docs First Name worked evenly for trainer Jaime Gomez on the way to posting the top morning works of :12.5 at 220 yards on Tuesday at Alamitos.

Sixteen juveniles worked on Tuesday, as the California-based 2-year-olds continue their preparations for the 2021 campaign.

A Colorado-bred colt owned by Carlos Lopez and trained by Jaime Gomez, Lethal Blood was fast out of the gate, broke inwardly to bump Docs First Name before flashing quickness and speed while under a hand-ride. Lopez’s Docs First Name did not fire as quickly out of the gate, but he showed a nice burst of speed after getting bumped and kept up with Lethal Blood while under a very quiet ride from his exercise rider. Of the two, Docs First Name could take a leap forward in his next gate workout.

Lethal Blood’s sire is the 2015 All American Derby winner Apollitical Blood. The son of Apollitical Jess ran fourth in the Grade 1 All American Futurity and second to Heza Dasha Fire in the Grade 1 Golden State Million Futurity in 2014. He then finished sixth in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity against a field that included eventual AQHA World Champions He Looks Hot and Heza Dasha Fire. Apollitical Blood is the sire of the outstanding Two Million winner Apollitical Patty. Lethal Blood’s dam is the Corona Cartel mare Lethal Time.

Charles Treece, this track’s fourth all-time leading Quarter Horse trainer, had two solid performers during morning works for owner Charles Stojan in the form of Cow Girl Tac and Interes Fino. The two young runners performed evenly in :12.9. Cow Girl Tac is a filly by Mr Jess Perry out of Coronatac, while Interest Fino is by Seperate Interest out of the solid producer Corona Mas Fina, who is the dam of Uno Corona Mas and Jess Mas. Uno Corona Mas won the 2016 Grade 2 Southern California Derby and the 2018 California Breeders Sprint. Jess Mas was a multiple stakes finalist, who finished fourth in the 207 Grade 1 Los Alamitos Super Derby and was third in the 2018 Grade 1 Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap.
