BAIL CZECH IS EASY WINNER OF WHOSLEAVINGWHO HANDICAP

EG High Desert Farms’ homebred Bail Czech dominated the running of the $20,000 Whosleavingwho Handicap, as he dominated the 350-yard race from start to finish on the way to a 1 ½ victory on Saturday at Los Alamitos.

Bail Czech’s took the lead right from the start, opening a ¾ length advantage on his five rivals before extending his lead at the midway point and eventually cruising home well ahead of the rest. Ridden by Irving Lara for trainer Santos Perez, Bail Czech covered the distance in :17.524. For Perez, this was his second career Quarter Horse stakes win.

Bail Czech, a 6-year-old Corona Czech gelding, became a three-time stakes winner in the process, adding the Whosleavingwho to his stakes wins in the Restricted Grade 1 Spencer Childers California Breeders Championship Handicap and the Vandy’s Flash Handicap at the age of three in 2019. The classy veteran was making his 17th career start in a stakes race at Los Alamitos. In addition to his stakes wins, Bail Czech finished second in the Grade 2 Golden State Derby in 2019 and second in the Grade 1 Go Man Go Handicap in 2020. He’s won eight of 36 career starts for earnings of $247,662. Bail Czech earned $11,000 in the Whosleavingwho.

While Bail Czech escaped the field right from the start, second place was a dogged fight between the other five starters. In a blanket finish, Erik Flores’ homebred Milan Red hit the wire ahead of the rest for second place. Other World and Five Bar Runner finished in a dead-heat for third.

Ridden by Cesar Franco for trainer Valentin Zamudio, Milan Red earned $4,500 for running second. The Corona Cartel horse has enjoyed a strong 2022 season. From six starts, Milan Red has won three times and finished in the top three a total of five times. Gentleman Chuck finished fifth with Rox Win completing this tightly bunch group of runners.
