HARD KNOCKING SPRINTERS MEET IN 8TH RACE ON SUNDAY
Simply put, El Bobito Bet Cartel is a runner. From his last 10 starts, the son of Favorite Cartel has finished in the money in nine of those outings and while he’s not a stakes winner or a household name in the Quarter Horse racing world, the runner owned by Valentin Zamudio, Paul Penuelas, and Pedro Mena is a tough horse to beat every time he enters the starting gate.
El Bobito Bet Cartel’s past performance includes three victories and top finishes even against some of the toughest runners on the ground. He was third to First Down Dash Handicap winner London Toby on November 19 and in his most recent start he was a game second to stakes finalist Nevada Charles. He’s also posted solid victories at 300 and 350 yards and for his career, the homebred runner has earned $34,999. All and all, it’s easy to imagine that more success is on its way for this always consistent performer.
El Bobito Bet Cartel will be in action on Sunday night against another group of quality performers headed by PCQHRA champion stallion Famous Cartel Jess and Slews Fortune, who had a three-race win streak not too long ago. Ten races are on tap starting at 5:45 p.m.
Owned by Johnny Trotter and trained by Jose Flores, Famous Cartel Jess also finished third to London Toby last year, his good result coming in the running of the First Down Dash on closing weekend. Famous Cartel Jess also competed in the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity final in 2020. Ed Allred’s recent allowance winner Look Up is another top contender in this event. He was a derby finalist last year.
