A LOOK BACK AT TAKIN ON THE CASH

Sunday’s program will feature a strong field of 2-year-olds racing in the Takin On The Cash Stakes, a superstar both on the track and as a stallion during his great career. Trained by Caesar Dominguez for owner Felipe Tiscareno, the 1988 sorrel colt was a track record holder at Los Alamitos at 400 yards for more than a decade and was the AQHA champion colt at both two and three years old. His racing accolades began during his freshman season and included wins in the Dash For Cash Futurity at 400 yards, the Bay Meadows Futurity at 350 yards, and the Kindergarten Futurity at 350 yards. He also finished second in the Golden State Futurity.

As a sophomore, Takin On The Cash won the Golden State Derby at 440 yards, the El Primero Del Ano Derby at 400 yards, and the Quarter Horse Breeders Classic at 350 yards. All six of the aforementioned stakes events were Grade 1 races. In addition, this tremendous son of Dash for Cash ran second in the Los Alamitos Invitational Championship and fourth in the Champion of Champions. He was a stakes placed runner in several other races during his 26 race career. A winner of 13 races, he earned $661,697.

Takin On The Cash went to enjoy a great career as a sire. His progeny included the champion A Delightful Dasher, who earned over $1.6 million in his career while winning the All American Futurity and Rainbow Futurity, Golden State Million Futurity and All American Derby. Takin On The Cash also sired Heza Ramblin Man, a two-time winner of the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Invitational Championship, Rakin In The Cash, winner of the Heritage Place Futurity, Takin On Spoon Man, winner of the Go Man Go Handicap, and Shazoom, a stakes winner and successful sire. Takin On The Cash was also a great broodmare sire.
