FIVE BAR SUPREME DOMINATES WILD WEST TRIALS
Jorge Carmona’s Five Bar Supreme, winner of the Firecracker Futurity at Grants Pass in Oregon, was a complete standout during the trials to the $86,350 Wild West Futurity on Sunday at Los Alamitos.
Ridden by Jesus Rios Ayala for trainer Lindolfo Diaz, Five Bar Supreme dominated the second of trials to the Wild West, easily winning his 350-yard heat by 2 ¾ lengths and in the fastest qualifying time of :17.716. Alejandro Ibarra and Alejandro Marcelo Camou’s Double A Eagle, who ran second to Five Bar Supreme in their trials, finished with the second fastest qualifying time of :18.153. Michael Clark’s Pappas Missile, who won the other Wild West trial, was the third fastest qualifier in a time of :18.228.
All eyes will be on Five Bar Supreme in the Wild West final following his romping victory in the trials. The gelding by Five Bar Cartel entered his Wild West trials after posting a ½ length win in the $63,000 Firecracker at Grants Pass on 4th of July. He had also dominated his Firecracker trial, cruising to a 1 ¼ length win in that outing. He’s also enjoyed local success, winning two of his starts here while also running second in his trial to the PCQHRA Breeders Futurity. He’ll be in the big favorite in the Wild West final.
The horses with the 10 fastest times in Sunday’s trials will return for the Wild West final to be held here on Sunday, October 22. Horses were eligible to race in these after making at least two total starts in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and/or Canada.
