AQHA CHAMPIONS TO BE ANNOUNCED ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 17

     The AQHA Racing Champions Ceremony for the 2023 champions will be held on Wednesday afternoon on January 17, 2024, at 4 p.m. (Pacific Time) at Heritage Place Sale Co. in Oklahoma City. Live streaming of the awards ceremony will be available at AQHA.com.                                                                                                                                                Top local graded and notable stakes winners nominated include Trane Station V, Political Rivalry, Five Bar Supreme, Cyber Attack, Aint He Tempting, Hes Chickless, Cartel Kisses, Jeriko, Take A Swig Of This, Cir Lady Moon, Famous Shining Star, Letty Cartel, Empressum, Flash Bak, Apollitical Pence, Scoops Dynasty.                                                              Individual horsemen and horsewomen nominated for divisional honors include Ed Allred, Dr. Steve Burns, Dunn Ranch, Valeriano Racing Stables, Bill Dale and James Streelman, McColee Land & Livestock, Rancho El Cabresto, Monty Arrossa, Jose Flores, Paul Jones, Heath Taylor, Eddie Willis, Rodrigo Sigala Vallejo,  and Francisco Calderon.                                 About the AQHA Champions each year, AQHA awards the top American Quarter Horses in the racing industry at the AQHA Racing Champions Ceremony. The Champions ballots for each equine category are determined by a collection of criteria. Some automatically make the ballot based on earnings or wins. Others are nominated and voted onto the ballot by the AQHA Racing Committee. Members of the Champions Selection Subcommittee then meet to review the finalists and cast their ballots to determine each champion. Ballots for Breeder, Owner, Trainer and Jockey of the Year consist of the individuals with the best overall placing according to money earned, races won and performance in graded stakes. Winners are likewise chosen by the Champions Selection Subcommittee. Individual voting results will be made public at the AQHA Racing Champions Ceremony on January 15 at Heritage Place in Oklahoma City.

PCQHRA TO CELEBRATE CALIFORNIA’S 2023 CHAMPIONS ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 26

        The PCQHRA Awards Banquet will celebrate the achievements of California’s Quarter Horse breeders, owners, trainers, jockeys, and champion horses of the 2023 season on Friday, January 26. The Awards Banquet will be held in the Finish Line Room at Los Alamitos Race Course and will be hosted by Michael Wrona. The PCQHRA Horse of the Year will be announced as well as divisional winners in various aged and sex categories. In addition, the Frank Vessels Memorial Award winner will be presented in recognition of contributions to Quarter Horse racing in California.
