NEWLY PURCHASED DASHA GOOD REASON MOVES TO ED ALLRED’S ROLLING A RANCH

FOR 2025 BREEDING SEASON

Ed Allred, Quarter Horse racing’s all-time leading breeder and owner, has completed the purchase of multiple Grade 1 finalist Dasha Good Reason and will stand the son of AQHA champion Good Reason SA at his Rolling A Ranch in Atascadero, California. The 2025 stallion fee for Dasha Good Reason has been set at $3,000.

Impeccably bred, Dasha Good Reason is out of the AQHA Racing Dam of Distinction Dasha Freda, who is the dam of 2015 AQHA World Champion Heza Dasha Fire and AQHA champion 2-year-old gelding Ima Fearless Hero. Previously owned by Robyn Gordon, Juan Humberto Moya and S-Quarter K LLC, Dasha Good Reason spent his first breeding season at Robicheaux Ranch in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana in 2024 and his first foals are weanlings of 2025.

On the racetrack, Dasha Good Reason was one of the top 2-year-olds racing at Los Alamitos Race Course in 2021, scoring four victories that year while qualifying for the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity at 400 yards, the Grade 2 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity at 350 yards, and the John Deere Los Alamitos Juvenile Challenge at 350 yards. His victories included trial wins to the Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity at 350 yards plus trial wins to the PCQHRA Breeders Futurity and John Deere Los Alamitos Juvenile.

As a 3-year-old, Dasha Good Reason qualified for the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Super Derby, Grade 2 Golden State Derby and Grade 2 El Primero Del Ano Derby, which were all held at 400 yards, before qualifying to the Grade 1 Brad McKinzie Los Alamitos Winter Championship during his 4-year-old campaign. Bred by S-Quarter K LLC, Dasha Good Reason competed in a total of nine stakes races and had top three finishes in nine of his 21 lifetime starts. He earned $264,158 during his racing career.

“Dasha Good Reason is from a family of champions and outstanding bloodlines,” Allred said. “I would like to thank Don, Kathy and Shawn Meneely of S Quarter K LLC, Robyn Gordon and Juan Humberto Moya for the opportunity to purchase this tremendous stallion prospect. I’m excited to bring the great bloodlines of Good Reason SA and Dasha Freda to Rolling A Ranch.”

The sire of Dasha Good Reason is the outstanding two-time champion Good Reason SA, who won the 2011 Grade 1 Champion of Champion at 440 yards and the 2009 Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity at 400 yards and earned $1,446,727 in his career. He also won the Grade 1 Golden State Derby and the Grade 2 Los Alamitos Winter Championship. His progeny includes two-time AQHA champion colt Jess Good Candy, the winner of the Grade 1 All American Futurity and $2,014,703; AQHA champion Jess Good Reason, winner of the Grade 1 Charger Bar Handicap and $422,234; and Reason To Fly Mv, winner of the Grade 1 Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap and $246,211.

The Meneely’s wonderful broodmare Dasha Freda is the daughter of 2019 AQHA Hall of Fame inductee Mr Jess Perry. A Grade 3 stakes winner, Dasha Freda is a sister of AQHA champions Fredricksburg ($369,304), and Fredavilla ($324,696). Dasha Freda’s sons include Heza Dasha Fire, the winner of the 2015 Grade 1 Champion of Champions and eight other Grade 1 stakes races, and Ima Fearless Hero, winner of the 2015 Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity. She’s also the dam of Grade 2 winner Sweet Dasha Fire ($190,624) and stakes winner Dasha Dynasty ($131,807).

Dasha Good Reason’s granddam is the Grade 1 Texas Classic Derby winner Fearless Freda, whose family includes her granddaughter Kiss Thru Fire ($708,205) and half-sister Deelish ($603,673). The 6-year-old Dasha Good Reason will join Kiddy Up and Fly Thru The Fire as part of the stallion lineup at Rolling A Ranch.

“We are thankful and honored to have had Dasha Good Reason at Robicheaux Ranch for the start of his stallion career,” said Ryan Robicheaux. “We will miss him, but we’re proud to see that Dr. Allred thinks of him as much as we do. We are happy for the horse because he is going to a great place like Dr. Allred’s ranch, and we wish nothing but great things for Dasha Good Reason at his new home. His babies that we have here look amazing and we’ve always felt that he could be one of the future great stallions in Quarter Horse racing.”
