The 21st edition of California Breeders Champions Night is just around the corner on Saturday, July 25 and after a review of the nominees and the many possible race lineups, the evening promises to be one of the yearís premier nights of Quarter Horse racing action. The evening will offer a full evening of stakes racing action featuring the best California-bred Quarter Horses at Los Alamitos.

The fields for two of the featured events on California Breeders Champions Night have already been decided following the trials to the $322,000 Governorís Cup Futurity and $185,000 Governorís Cup Derby. The Governorís Cup Futurity will be led by Haras Portofinoís fastest qualifier Untuckit and Jeff and Michelle Cravensí Favorite Colossus, who is trained by former leading rider Cesar De Alba. The Governorís Cup Derby will feature many of the Californiaís top freshman stars in 2019 in the form of Grade 1 Golden State Million Futurity winner Runforyourlife, Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity runner-up Cattail Cove and Autumn Handicap winner Just Be Real. The fastest qualifier to the Governorís Cup Derby is Ed Allredís Nomadic, a sleek and athletic looking Quarter Horse who as a 2-year-old posted the top time to the Two Million last year.
